Custom Jewelry CAD Design in Rhino & Matrix

Custom CAD jewelry design that turns a sketch, a reference photo or a written spec into a precise, parametric 3D model — built to your exact stone sizes and metal, and ready for production. A focused jewelry CAD studio for casting houses, manufacturers and designers: we build the model, you own it.

What it is

Turn a reference into a precise, parametric model.

The step that converts an idea into geometry a shop can actually build — dimensioned to your stones and metal, not approximated by eye.

Jewelry CAD design is where an idea becomes a buildable object. You send whatever you have — a hand sketch, a customer photo, a CAD file that needs reworking, or a spec sheet with stone sizes and finger size — and we model it as a clean, fully dimensioned 3D piece that matches your metal and stones down to the millimetre.

Every model is built parametrically. The geometry is driven by real values — band width, shank thickness, stone diameters, seat depths, prong counts — rather than pushed around freehand. Change a finger size or swap a 6.5 mm centre stone for a 7 mm one, and the surrounding setting updates without rebuilding the piece from scratch.

Why parametric modeling matters on the bench

Parametric control is what keeps a model honest through revisions. Prong tips stay proportional, gallery rails keep their spacing, and a resize won't quietly thin a wall below what will cast. When the file reaches your printer or caster, the dimensions on screen are the dimensions in metal — no surprises on the tree.

CAD is the second stage of our four-step jewelry CAD process — brief, CAD, render, casting-ready delivery — so a model that leaves this stage is already set up to flow straight into client approval and the pour.

A studio, not a freelancer lottery

Sending CAD to a marketplace is a gamble — a different hand every time, quality that swings from file to file, and your design floating around who-knows-where. We run it as a studio instead: one repeatable process, an internal QA pass on every model, and consistent geometry whether it's your first ring or your fiftieth SKU. And it stays yours — you keep control of your design and your client, we sign your NDA on request, and the editable working file is handed to you at the end.

What you get

Everything you receive from a CAD build.

Clean geometry, real stone seats and honest tolerances — handed off in the formats your shop already runs.

OUT.01

Editable 3DM master

A parametric 3DM working file you (or we) can reopen for future sizes, metals and variants — the model stays alive, not flattened.

OUTPUT · 3DM
OUT.02

Watertight mesh export

Correctly scaled and oriented STL / 3MF — with OBJ on request — closed, manifold geometry that slices and prints cleanly with no repair pass on your end.

OUTPUT · STL / 3MF
OUT.03

Stone seats & settings

True seats, prongs and bezels modeled to the actual stones on your spec — real geometry to set into, never placeholder cutters.

SET · TO SPEC
OUT.04

Tolerances & wall control

Wall thickness, clearances and fit checked across the piece — to a fraction of a millimetre — so the geometry holds up in metal and is ready for the next step.

CHECKED · FOR FIT
Built for precision

Engineered for accuracy and fit.

Six things we hold to on every CAD model — because even 0.1 mm changes how a stone seats and how a ring fits the finger.

FEAT.01

Parametric build

Geometry driven by real dimensions, so sizes, prongs and profiles stay editable without starting the model over.

FEAT.02

Stone-accurate seats

Seats, prongs and bezels cut to your exact stone diameters and shapes — round, fancy or calibrated.

FEAT.03

Tolerance & fit

Clearances tuned for setting, assembly and any moving parts, so pieces go together the way they should.

FEAT.04

Watertight geometry

Closed, manifold meshes that export to clean STL / 3MF and print or cast without a repair pass.

FEAT.05

Metal-spec aware

Modeled around your metal and karat, so proportions, weight and shrinkage all make sense downstream.

FEAT.06

Revision-friendly

Model history kept intact, so a change of size, stone or profile is quick and low-drama, not a rebuild.

Software & pieces

The CAD stack and the pieces we model.

The platforms most shops already run, the formats your pipeline expects, and the full spread of fine-jewellery forms.

We model in Rhino, MatrixGold (Matrix) and 3Design — the platforms most casting houses and manufacturers already run — and hand off clean STL, 3MF and 3DM files, with OBJ on request. If your printer or pipeline needs a particular flavour of any of those, tell us in the brief and we'll match it.

CAD design pairs naturally with photoreal 3D jewelry rendering for client sign-off, and feeds straight into casting-ready STL and 3MF files for the pour. It's one part of the full range of jewelry CAD services we run, and you can see finished results among the recent models in our portfolio.

Pieces we model

Rings are the core of the work — CAD ring design from solitaires and eternity bands to signets — but the studio builds across the full fine-jewellery spectrum:

Common questions

CAD design, answered.

The essentials on formats, getting started and revisions. Don't see your question? Our team replies the same day.

What file formats do you deliver?

You receive casting-ready STL and 3MF for printing and casting, plus an editable 3DM working file for when you'll want to adjust the model later — and OBJ on request. If your shop needs a specific format for its printer or pipeline, note it in the brief and we'll match it.

What should I send to start a CAD model?

Whatever you have — a sketch, reference photo, hand drawing, existing CAD or a written spec. The more detail on stones (sizes and counts), metal (type and karat) and finished dimensions, the faster we lock scope. If something's missing, we ask before modeling, so nothing gets assumed.

How do revisions work?

Revision rounds are part of the project, not billed per tweak — and because the model is parametric, adjusting a size, prong or profile is quick. We keep refining until the geometry is right to hand off, with the scope agreed up front in your quote.
